Rare copy surfaces:

[Birkin, Charles Lloyd (editor).]. POWERS OF DARKNESS: A COLLECTION OF UNEASY TALES. London: Philip Allan, [1934]. Octavo, pp. [1-4] 5 [6-8] 9-243 [244: blank] [245-256: ads], original green cloth, spine panel stamped in black. First edition. Original anthology collecting ten stories by Lord Dunsany, Birkin (as "Charles Lloyd"), Russell Thorndike and others. Part of the classic fourteen volume "Creeps" series. Upper front corner tip bruised, top edge of text block dusty, a near fine copy in about very good pictorial dust jacket (illustrated by Philip Simmonds) with wear and shallow loss at spine ends and corner tips, several short closed tears, and front flap cleanly detached at flap fold. Overall, a fairly nice example of a scarce jacket which will present nicely if restored.
